Greetings, Fighters.
Welcome back to our developer update series! The Hall of Memories is changing - and we're excited to show you some concepts, some of which are in testing.
Before we get into it, our community gets access to almost everything... before everyone else! So if you're interested in early release news, we recommend joining our Discord or Telegram.
Refresh & Reface
The Hall of Memories is getting refreshed and refaced for CryptoFights 2! (It might even come sooner). New features are currently being tested in our Developer Environment. Some favorite new features to look forward to are sharing your battles and viewing fighter details of your opponents!
Hall of What?
Hall of Memories is a unique feature CryptoFights has to offer. The feature is similar to a blockchain explorer, but those are more tedious and don't include a video of your gameplay! Hall of Memories is how we make gameplay data accessible to gamers.
A benefit of operating all gameplay on the blockchain is that everything is documented as data - not just the rewards. Many blockchain games have only the rewards listed on the blockchain. That combination of off-chain gameplay and on-chain rewards makes data susceptible to breaches. Hence, some of the most popular blockchain games have been hacked for billions of dollars.
We do things differently. With all data on-chain, both your gameplay and private information remain secure.
Below is the current Hall of Memories.
Okay, What Else!?
Below is a concept of our new Hall of Memories, currently in testing. We've been reading a lot of Lord of the Rings, so don't mind the data example.
Matches can be searched by winner or loser, which shows all your opponents from PvP or bosses from PvE. Cash Prize is particularly for PvP Arenas, which will require staking with the release of CryptoFights 2. There may even be an option for other players to stake on matches from the Leaderboard, which features top players. Item Reward is particularly for quest bosses from PvE, which will drop weapons, armor, and materials.
Players currently have access to the Log during a match. The Log is recorded on the bottom left portion of the screen and documents every move from you and your opponent. Our gameplay is inspired by classic Dungeon and Dragons mechanics, where you roll dice for attack and damage. To make the game easier for players, our Log records the points of each action.
Your opponent may have special armor, weapons, traits, or abilities that impact the overall score, so the Log is a quick place to check those details. Most turn-based games operate similarly, where characters have special skills or relics that make their character more powerful or resistant to attacks. Similarly, 'hits' and 'misses' need to be calculated, but we use the dice to show the mechanics.
Our gamers enjoy the soothing clickity-clack to roll for the attack.
Sharing is a new feature coming to the Hall of Memories, allowing you to share your match clip on social media or with friends. Our community is known for sharing gameplay clips or screenshots to help others, show off their build or capture good plays. We're making it easier for gamers to share and save moments they're proud of.
Watch is pretty self-explanatory. It allows you to rewatch the match to review strategy - or just for fun!
Play & Learn
One of our favorite feature concepts is our pop-out player menu. It's a work in progress, with more details to hit the screen! This feature allows you to click your opponent's name and view their fighter-build details. Strategy is kind of our whole 'thing.' People play CryptoFights because they like games that require a little thinking, building, and tact.
This player menu in the Hall of Memories will give you additional details like equipped armor or weapons and their modifiers. This will be especially important when crafting, and enchanting are introduced to the game. Your opponent may farm and collect materials to craft unique and powerful gear. If you lose, you may want to know how to get what they have.
What’s next?
Keep in mind the Hall of Memories presented is a concept in testing with changes to come. With the main functionalities in place, we can continue developing new features for our gamers.
These are just a few of the many changes in the works. Once again, please remember this is a work-in-progress, and things are subject to change.
